The house is finished

Final certificate of occupancy has been issued. All is clean and tidy. It turned out just beautiful and much like the original drawings.

And we're now messing it up by moving in :)

And of course there is a pond

As Michael had nothing else to do, he built a pond, right outside the dining room and living room windows : ) It's a diminutive ten feet long, compared to the 25 foot lake we dug in our old land. Its rimmed with moss rock and really lovely.

Kitchen

The new bamboo cabinets are in - some with stainless steel doors. All of that wrestling with Ikea assembly and Semihandmade fronts is now worth it - it is stunning. The tile is limestone from Uxmal, Mexico.

This shows the LED undercounted lighting.

And here is the custom bamboo mirror cabinet.

The moon rising from our new living room window.

As seen while sitting in the middle of the construction site
with friends drinking a bottle of champagne

Stucco!

The color is "cottonwood."

Someday, the plastic over the south windows will be replaced by glass. It's the last step in the project.

And the dumpster will go away, also : )

This detail from the upstairs deck shows the mix of materials  and the complex rooflines.

Family portrait

Everything keeps happening - at once

Glass block walls in the bathroom, grading the entire lot using a Bobcat (which Michael wants to play with) and installing kitchen cabinets, all at the same time. There were also painters finishing the window sills, electricians scoping out the finishing work and tons of other folks. Michael counted 12 trucks on the site at the same time.
